Frank Proffitt Jr. - Prophecies (2026) [Hi-Res]

Recorded by Alan Lomax in September 1982 in Beech Mountain, North Carolina, Prophecies highlights Appalachian folk musician Frank Proffitt, Jr.
Carrying forward generations of mountain ballads and Appalachian dulcimer craftsmanship, Proffitt, Jr. performs traditional regional repertoire. The sessions also feature rhythmic percussive footwork from traditional buck-dancers Stanley and Hattie Hicks.
Highlighted by project producer David Katznelson as a cornerstone release of the archival collection, this 2026 digital release on Qobuz presents these unreleased 1982 recordings in restored high resolution.
