Boma Bango - On va voir (2026)

Lafayette and New Orleans-based ensemble Boma Bango, founded by guitarist Daniel Coolik in 2018, delivers their studio album On Va Voir, released via Valcour Records. The project originated from the band's shared fascination with 1960s–1970s Congolese rumba—a genre born from the fusion of Cuban son and African melodies. The group reimagines this heritage through the culture, vernacular, and cadence of Southwest Louisiana, writing original compositions in Louisiana French.

The sonic architecture of the release combines improvisational freedom with continuous rhythmic drive. The arrangements center on interlocking reverb-washed electric guitars, tremolo effects, fluid saxophone lines, multi-layered percussion, and rolling basslines. Alongside founder Daniel Coolik, the core lineup features bassist Trey Boudreaux, vocalist and percussionist Megan Brown Constantin, drummer Doug Garrison, conga player Cesar Bacaro, and saxophonist Tim McFatter, augmented by guest collaborators Jafet Perez, Aurora Nealand, and Brad Webb. The record bridges Afro-Cuban, world music, zydeco-adjacent rhythms, and contemporary jazz improvisations.
