Caris Hermes & WDR Big Band - Rise (2026) [Hi-Res]

German double bassist, composer, and WDR Jazzpreis winner Caris Hermes teams up with the WDR Big Band for the album Rise, released via the JazzJazz record label. Recorded at WDR Studio 4 in Cologne, the project transforms her original small-group compositions into expansive big band arrangements.

Renowned arranger Steffen Schorn adapted five tracks from her debut release for the large ensemble, alongside an arrangement of the live track "Extraordinary People" by trombonist Carla Köllner. The album fuses modern big band, contemporary jazz, and orchestral jazz, highlighting Hermes's expressive double bass playing within a rich brass soundscape.
