Olive Grinter & Joe Shrimpling - Silent Strings & Colourful Wings (2026) [Hi-Res]

wo close friends, Olive and Joe, unexpectedly discovered a shared passion for songwriting and set out to record a whole collection of songs about nostalgia, friendship and whimsy. Their sound grows out of the British and American folk tradition: Joe plays with delicate, thoughtful fingerpicking that echoes John Martyn and Nick Drake, while Olive's warm, sensitive voice is likened to Laura Marling and Norah Jones.

It all began with the two exchanging long lists of their favourite songwriters, which helped them find common ground. They then spent nearly a year writing and recording at the back of Joe's garden, in effect a home studio. They followed a simple routine: one of them would bring in a nearly finished song, and together they would flesh out the music and shape the arrangement.
