Sonus Umbra – Spiritual Vertigo (2003)

Spiritual Vertigo (2003) is the second and one of the most striking studio albums by the Chicago-Mexican collective Sonus Umbra (an offshoot of Radio Silence). The record is a complex, darkly nuanced conceptual essay exploring themes of existential vertigo, mental isolation, and spiritual disorientation. The album stands out among its contemporaries of the early 2000s for its ability to seamlessly combine complex avant-garde constructions and time signature shifts with memorable melody, dense guitar riffs, and acoustic intimacy.
