Calibro 35 - ELLROY vs L.A. (OST) (2026) [Hi-Res]

The Italian band Calibro 35, known for its cinematic funk, is releasing a new album, Ellroy vs L.A., on Record Kicks on October 9 — a musical tribute to American noir. The record, made up of twelve new tracks at the crossroads of crime funk, psychedelia and hypnotic grooves, grew out of the soundtrack to the documentary of the same name by director Francesco Zippel, produced by Quoiat Films and awarded the Nastro d'Argento, the Italian critics' prize.

The film immerses viewers in the world of writer James Ellroy, author of The Black Dahlia, L.A. Confidential and American Tabloid, a master of noir fiction and New York Times bestseller, while also painting a portrait of Los Angeles itself. Ellroy reflects on his relationship with the city, his words woven together with archival footage and scenes of the band recording in the studio. The invitation to compose the original score was more than a commission for the musicians: they stepped into Ellroy's crime universe and found its darkness already familiar. The music doesn't merely illustrate that world — it inhabits it. The album is now available for pre-order.
