Finn Carter - Finding Home (2026) [Hi-Res]

London-based pianist and composer Finn Carter is a prominent figure in the city's adventurous, genre-blending jazz scene. He plays venues such as Ronnie Scott's and The Vortex and works with pop artists Loyle Carner, Olivia Dean and Rex Orange County, while developing his own uncompromising musical language.

His new album Finding Home was made with a quartet of like-minded players: Kaidi Akinnibi (tenor saxophone, with a light, airy tone), Joe McLaren (bass) and Blake Cascoe (drums), with trumpeter Christos Stylianides as a guest. The musicians combine high complexity with a direct connection to the listener, and the rhythm section constantly shifts texture and intensity, pushing the ensemble to greater heights.

The album consists of eight pieces, each with its own character, yet together they play as one continuous work. Its core elements are Finn's lyrical, tumbling piano, Kaidi's nimble saxophone and flexible, interactive grooves. Carter's inspirations include Alice Coltrane, Andrew Hill, Jason Moran, Ambrose Akinmusire and Donny Hathaway, yet the sound remains deeply individual. Finding Home is Carter's most accomplished work to date.
