Jukka Haavisto, Löyly Syndicate - Juniper Path (2026) [Hi-Res]

Finnish bassist and composer Jukka Haavisto, a leading figure in European jazz fusion and a master of the fretless electric bass, releases the album "Juniper Path" with his project Löyly Syndicate. The record's musical concept bridges Finno-Ugric melodic traditions, Nordic jazz, and African American jazz fusion, drawing inspiration from the spirit of northern nature and the Finnish sauna tradition (löyly).

In Haavisto's compositional approach, the melodic style of Finnish creators Toivo Kärki and Gösta Sundqvist intertwines with the fusion traditions laid down by Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, and Jaco Pastorius. Energetic rhythms and open improvisation combine with spacious cinematic textures, while the release's artwork underscores its deeply personal nature, featuring an original painting created by Haavisto's mother.

Jukka Haavisto – fretless bass, compositions
Vili Itäpelto – electric piano and synthesizers
