Malcolm Braff, Petter Eldh, Lukas König - Outside (2026) [Hi-Res]

Pianist Malcolm Braff, bassist Petter Eldh, and drummer Lukas Koenig have each spent years exploring rhythm as a personal musical language. On Outside, their paths converge: the trio builds a dialogue in which each player brings an individual rhythmic concept, and these fuse into a single, coherent statement. The musicians deliberately push the boundaries of time, groove, and improvisation. The record belongs to the vanguard of contemporary jazz, where rhythmic complexity and adventurous improvisation take priority. The traditional hierarchy of the piano trio, in which the piano leads while bass and drums accompany, is reexamined here: the music plays out as a living conversation among equals.
