Yokaï - Humboldt (2026) [Hi-Res]

The instrumental collective Yokai has released the vinyl album “Humboldt” on the label Humpty Dumpty (catalog number 6G0909, EAN 05412690060434). The release continues the line of the band’s earlier work, which had already drawn attention within the label’s catalog.

Yokai’s music is built on a film-score-inspired instrumental language: jazz, elements of psychedelic rock, and cosmopolitan grooves are fused into expansive, cinematic compositions with rising tension. The arrangements feature horns, multilayered guitars, and rhythmic pulses that recall Ethio-jazz, krautrock, and 1970s soundtracks.

The band is organized as a versatile collective of multi-instrumentalists: a horn section, two drummers, and dense keyboard parts. This lineup gives many pieces an orchestral quality while keeping them lively and organic. For listeners who enjoy cinematic music with an improvisational spirit, “Humboldt” is a logical continuation of Yokai’s body of work.
