Mariecke Borger - Unravel (2026) [Hi-Res]

Dutch singer-songwriter Mariecke Borger releases her third album, “Unravel,” in 2026. Over twenty years she has refined her sound at the intersection of alternative folk, Americana, and intimate storytelling, from the Veluwe woods to the storied stages of Paradiso. She is now based in Kampen.

The album’s ten songs came to Borger during a brief, inspired period in autumn, as she sat at the piano. Over the following year she and her husband, Floris de Vries, shaped the material into a finished record: he co-produced it and recorded the project. The title “Unravel” gives the album its guiding metaphor: the songs trace the path that has led Borger to the present moment while opening up a sense of what lies ahead.

Musically, the album moves between brighter, hopeful compositions and more restrained, melancholic reflections. This interplay of light and longing defines its character, a nuanced blend of folk, Americana, and intimate storytelling. Borger’s voice as both songwriter and performer comes across with clarity and depth. The record is aimed at listeners who value folk, Americana, and thoughtful songwriting: a well-balanced collection of quiet international calibre, combining emotional depth with musical grace.
