Souled American - Sonny (1992)

Due to the bankruptcy of the American branch of the Rough Trade label, the album was initially released only in the UK, going largely unnoticed by the public. However, music critics have hailed Souled American as unique interpreters of the forgotten American songbook.
The departure of the drummer radically altered the balance of the sound: Joe Adducci's bass lines took center stage, replacing the traditional rhythm section. The songs breathe a free space, where the guitar strumming of Scott Tuma and Chris Grigoroff overlaps with an "uncanny," almost cosmic, sense of melancholy.
The music on this release is hypnotic, devoid of commercial gloss, and sounds like old, haunted country standards playing late at night in an empty, semi-abandoned bar.
