Bjarki - AE (2016)

AE is the third and final album in Bjarki's album trilogy. Like the other releases, it's a mangled, warped ride through techno and sees him push the form to its outer limits. While it starts with the relatively conventional acid of "B03", it quickly descends into the wiry abstractions of punishing kicks of "B04". Never remaining in one place for too long, the Icelandic producer then moves into the melodic, lithe rhythms of "B07" and "B10" before lapsing into soft-focus, breathy ambience on the title track and "Amelyn". Maintaining the unpredictable theme, "Filtered Flengdar Trommur 3 (Not Finished)" and "Calcum 2" see Bjarki retreat into complex abstract techno - a fittingly offbeat end to this trilogy.
