Bristol, UK based Eddie Martin already has earned name as a sound Bluesman, both in terms of performance and songwriting.
This eighth release, Ice Cream, features ten original compositions varying from instrumental “Elmore’s Stomp” (probably a tribute to Elmore James) to slow lyric song “Love Is Like A River” to up-tempo “Cherry Red (335)”, etc. manifesting craftsmanship of playing guitar (electric and acoustic) both with and without slide in various styles extraordinarily as well as play the harmonica and sing, building mesmerizing ambient with the help of a bunch of excellent musicians including best British saxophone player Andy Shepherd and female bass player Marion Dolton.
Songwriting gift of his is a separate thing. In a modern Blues, where writing of new song is a hell of a hard deal, Eddie Martin is capable of putting down ten lustrous originals (“Tough But Tender” needs to be emphasized separately) that create Ice Cream.
Mr. Martin continues acquiring wider audience which he truly deserves.
