With their flower power, swinging sixties outfits and love of positive messages, Deee-Lite were undoubtedly a product of their times. It's remarkable, though, how well the New York trio's deliciously eccentric debut album, 1990's World Clique, has stood the test of time. Heavy on samples, wavy piano house, disco-tinged workouts and saucer-eyed hip-hop instrumentals, it feels like a snapshot of the NYC party scene at the dawn of the decade. This expanded, two-disc Cherry Red reissue presents the original album in its entirety, alongside a swathe of 12" remixes (including the Q-Tip-sporting Meeting The Minds mix of "Groove Is In The Heart" and a tasty Pal Joey dub of "How Do You Say...Love") and long forgotten B-sides.
