Carey Bell is the complete package - the best blues harmonica player of his era, who was also a distinctive singer.
A short tour with Carey Bell was an exciting prospect. He was simply the best blues harmonica player and an effective, distinctive singer. The complete package. Not averse to the occasional tipple, he was a nice guy but a tough hustler ready and willing to do a recording deal. If he was unsure of the prospect of being backed by English musicians, a quick listen to the Bill Dicey album that had recently been recorded with guitarist and bandleader for the session, Richard Studholme, brought a series of appreciative nods - he was in safe hands - Richard had a particular affinity with harmonica players.
The original release was the first blues album to be released only on CD. Here, with some bonus tracks, is the best of two worlds - the original LP and some extra, classy material.
