This autumn 'Blue' will be released, the new album by one of the youngest Dutch jazz trio's The Preacher Men. The Preacher Men is the Hammond jazz trio of Efraïm Trujillo on saxophones, Rob Mostert on the impressive hammond B3 organ and Chris Strik on drums. These three top musicians share the love for the classical sax, drums & hammond trios from the 50s and 60s of the last century. Every one of them earned their spurs in the Netherlands and abroad. In 2015 they decided to join forces and, as The Preacher Men, put their faith in the gospel jazz gospel.

The debut album 'Preaching Out Loud' (2016) was very well received by the critics and after a period of exhausting touring through festivals, theaters and jazz clubs, the trio returned to the studio to record their second album 'Blue' (September 2018). The album, whose title refers to the well-known state of mind but also to the music style, contains 9 'groovy-blue' songs, including 7 new compositions by saxophonist Efraim Trujillo. In gritty, deeply grooving Hammond sounds and ripping saxophone cries, The Preacher Men convincingly tell their musical story that traces back to the time of Blue Note and Verve, the time of heroes like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Lou Donaldson & Stanley Turrentine. The time of smoky jazz clubs in Chicago and New York.

For a part of the recordings we worked with awardwinning engineer / producer Al Schmitt. The Preacher Men also received the brooding 'Into the blue', the only vocal song on the album, amplification of Michael Varekamp on trumpet, Rory Ronde on guitar and Eline Gemerts on vocals. The Preacher Men will be playing live at various festivals this summer and they will enter the clubs this fall. You can find an up-to-date playlist on www.preachermen.com.
