Irmin Schmidt - 5 Klavierstücke (2018)

With the heartbreaking passing of Jaki Liebezeit and Holger Czukay in 2017 – and Michael Karoli in 2001 – Irmin Schmidt is now the last living core member of CAN, one of the most celebrated avant-garde bands in music history. On November 16, Schmidt will release his new album, 5 Klavierstücke (translated: "5 Piano Pieces"). Throughout his new LP, Schmidt employs contemplative piano motifs and pairs them with improvisational percussive elements and ambient noise. The result is a subdued yet engaging atmosphere.
