I'm comparing Chimene Badi to Adele because, like Adele, she is immensely talented, has a big, beautiful voice, and she is a serious talent, and not just another pretty face, or a mere dancing bear on stage. Also, this concert performance, at the world-famous Olympia Theater, in Paris, France, took place eight years ago when Chimene was 22, about the same age Adele was when she performed at London's Royal Albert Hall. And there, I suppose, the comparison ends, for unlike Adele, Chimene is not a songwriter. However, she has been provided with a program of first-class songs, by some first-class songwriting talents, including Rick Allison and the great Belgian singer, Lara Fabian. I first discovered Chimene singing Edith Piaf's "L'accordeoniste" in a YouTube video, and indeed, one of the highlights of this concert (at least for me) is seeing (on the dvd of this concert) and hearing her sing this Piaf song on the very same stage that Piaf herself once stood and sang (check out "Edith Piaf live a l'Olympia - 1956).
