MizikOpéyi, new album Creole Big band, Parisian concert on January 29, 2019 at the Café de la Danse
Created in 2006 by Tony Chasseur and Thierry Vaton, Mizikopéyi offers a mix of traditional and popular Caribbean rhythms and Afro-Caribbean melodies with jazz arrangements. Composed of 17 musicians, the orchestra is based on a section of 12 brass in the great tradition of big bands of New Orleans. MizikOpéyi already has four records to his credit including De Racines and Influences released in 2008, which received the "Special Prize Jury Price Sacem 2009". Today, his repertoire is oriented towards the "Creole Jazz", he has thus produced in the biggest jazz festivals in France and abroad.
For the new album MizikOpéyi Creole Big Band, Tony Chasseur and Thierry Vaton went to draw on the Creole repertoire of the West Indies, Haiti and the Indian Ocean that they transposed for a big band of jazz. Also on this disc are new tracks as well as a standard, Stardust, arranged in reverse in a Biguine style. MizikOpéyi appealed to an impressive cast of guests: Alain Jean-Marie, Faby Médina, Cynthia Abraham, Maraca, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Michel Alibo, Franck Nicolas, Michel Zénino, Arnaud Dolmen, Yoann Danier.
