Four hands and one piano. "A four-handed jazz piano duo has never been there before. Now, on our example, we hope that many pianists undertake such a project because it is nice to share the same instrument with a musician with whom one feels in complete harmony ». This time Cettina Donato adds to her habitual and contagious enthusiasm also that of the pioneer. It is not the first time that the musician from Messina has broken taboos, like when - first woman in Italy - he directed a symphony orchestra in a jazz repertoire. Now he has just recorded the cd (which will come out in January) "Piano 4Hands", born from the meeting with another leading name in Italian jazz: Stefania Tallini, as you pianist, arranger and composer.
Edited by Alfa Music, the new album includes original compositions signed by the two artists: "Let us prevail among ourselves - says Donato - a complementary character, enhancing the richness and differences of our two distinct professional paths".
Not only that, in the feminine musical complicity between the "blonde" and the "red" there is also a sort of bridge between southern regions. Although Tallini is known as a Roman jazz musician, she was actually born in Catanzaro. A bit 'by chance (the family was in Calabria because of the work of his father), but with a stay of up to eight years, which certainly left a trace.
Stefania Tallini is a multifaceted musician and has a brilliant international career in jazz and classical, with incursions also in Brazilian music. All his records include original pieces, some of which have been chosen by great international artists to be interpreted and recorded.
Cettina Donato graduated from Berklee Music College in Boston, which also awarded her the Carla Bley Award, a prize for best jazz composer. Since then her career has often led her to play abroad, always with great feedback: she was International President of the Women of Jazz Festival. The success achieved by his latest album "Persistency" is noteworthy, intended to support the VillagGioVanna project for the construction of a residence for autistics in Messina.
Two pianists, but above all two charismatic people, those who drag the audience and admire both the artistic qualities and the beauty: playing four hands have already conquered the audience of Piano City of Milan, the Atina Jazz Festival, Jazzit Fest of Montegrosso and of the Jazz Around Festival of Lecce.
In "Piano 4Hands" Stefania Tallini and Cettina Donato have two guest stars: the actor and director from Messina, Ninni Bruschetta, who plays a poem by Antonio Caldarella, accompanied by the "red", and the clarinetist Gabriele Mirabassi who performs a piece together with the "blonde".
