Fuzzy & The Rustbelts were born from a place where lyrics and music form an all American experience. Where stories take center stage and transport listeners to another place. Drawing from influences focused within the genre of Americana, folk, and country – Fuzzy & The Rustbelts have created a sound that appeals to a vast audience. It is a sound that chugs along like a freight train and lifts you up, offering hope and a chance to begin again.
After a long musical hiatus and birth of his firstborn son, Joe “Fuzzy” Thurston began to lay the foundation on what would eventually become Fuzzy & The Rustbelts. As a new wave of folk and roots based music had taken hold of the world, Fuzzy felt inspired to immerse himself in an exciting new project focused on lyrics, melody, and old school storytelling. After several years away from his hometown of Buffalo, NY, Fuzzy took time to self reflect and reexamine his previous songwriting techniques. He began writing songs that were based solely on personal experiences and adventures. Keeping the work simple, authentic, and believable.
Buffalo, NY (January 2018) – Fuzzy teamed up with friend and producer, Karl Maciag. The two began preproduction on an album that immediately proved challenging and exciting. With a hand picked team of musicians, they commenced rehearsals with a recording date scheduled for August 2018. After recording at Old Bear Recording Studio (Batavia, NY), Fuzzy & The Rustbelts underwent several personnel changes. Currently the band is comprised of the following individuals:
Joe “Fuzzy” Thurston (vocals, guitar, harmonica)
Joseph K. Renowden (lead guitar)
Eric Adams (bass)
Amanda Stoddard (vocals)
Joe Newton (drums)
