The euphonium, whose name derives from the Greek word for 'well-sounding', is a deep brass instrument. Due to its scale, it belongs to the family of bugle horns such as flugelhorn and tuba. In its sound, it strongly reminds of the tuba. However, it is smaller than the tuba and thus aims at the tenor and baritones.

The young Lilian Meurin introduces this as a barely familiar instrument with a French program that offers mainly well-known pieces such as the 'Swan' by Saint-Saëns and the Carmen Fantasy by Bizet, as well as 'Poèmes' by Gabriel Philippot.

This selection gives the opportunity to show all possible sides and shades of the sound of this still handy instrument. If you love the floating sonorous version of the 'swan' for the cello, you will be able to make friends with the sound of the euphonium. At 'Carmen' this sounding cumbersome brass instrument can also dance and rejoice. All these facets tickle Meurin out of his instrument with ease.

Victor Métral accompanies him on the piano, contributing the primer as well as his own thematic objections with a sure but also light hand.
