Isao Tomita - Symphony Ihatov (2013) [SACD]

Totaling over 300 members, the choir and full orchestra brilliantly depict the other-worldly dimensions of Miyazawa's stories, while also conveying the dynamic Tōhoku region that inspired these worlds. Through the virtual singer "Hatsune Miku," Tomita's heroic and masculine melodies forcefully emerge in a chaotic space in which layers of colorful sounds interesect. These are the "machines that sing"?machines that Tomita, as Japan's founding father of electronic music, has spent many years of his life dreaming of. The world-famous "Hatsune Miku" is the realization of Tomita's long-held dream of incorporating this inimitable voice into the orchestra sound.
