As part of the Sony Super Hits series, these ten tracks provide only adequate representation, at best, of Merle Haggard's mid- to late-'80s hits for that label. Original Epic material -- including "Big City," "Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star," and "Chill Factor" -- is programmed with re-recorded tracks from Haggard's Capitol years: "Workin' Man Blues," "Sing Me Back Home," "Branded Man," and "Carolyn." The disappointment isn't with Haggard's voice as much as his need to revamp his back catalog. For completists only.
