This is the second work with this formation, which has been playing in different stages of the country for two years and sharing tours of South Africa, Cuba and Chile. This new record follows the line of the previous work of the pianist (both were recorded on the same date), with an increasingly determined Iaies to deepen his exploration in the folkloric line, based on the jazz style that is his own.
In this tour, the presence of Facundo Guevara has been fundamental. "I knew that Facundo could help me get one side of my musical roots that was a bit asleep," Iaies confesses, and in fact this is a group that the pianist put together to play with Guevara.
Along with them, the Colombian Diana Arias, who to say of Iaies himself is "a perfect rhythmic support", returns to contribute the salsa background of his native Cali.
The disc contains in its majority original compositions of Iaies, but also a version of "Vida mía", of the Fresedo Brothers, transmuted in chacarera; an arrangement of "Monk 'mood" in which Iaies and Guevara dialogue in Peruvian cajón and piano, and an original version of one of Iaies favorite jazz songs, "Ballad of the sad young man", with the discographic record as singer guest of Laura Iaies, daughter of the pianist.
