Romano Pratesi - Frizione (2019)

The Frizione group was born in Paris in 2015 when Romano Pratesi met Hasse Poulsen and Christophe Marguet. In 2016, the festival Serravalle Jazz in Italy commissioned Romano Pratesi a creation made of new encounters around the existing trio, Glenn Ferris, Stephan Oliva and Claude Tchamitchian then joined the formation for this concert. Thus was born the Frizione Sextet, (a sort of All Star) French / Danish / American band led by an Italian. Frizione is the Italian word for the clutch, and it is in the form of a clutch of inspiration that Romano Pratesi is placed in his sextet. It is a group of very open jazz musicians, where all have a developed taste for the many possibilities of this genre that we can call contemporary European jazz. Frizione also sounds like Free Zone, but not quite, because there are compositions and conventions to respect. The six musicians contributed to the repertoire, which has become a journey through all the jazz musical inventions of the early 60 '-70' until today. Glenn Ferris has made his weapons at Frank Zappa and Henri Texier, Hasse Poulsen with Louis Sclavis and Das Kapital, Stéphan Oliva is best known as a great concert pianist, Claude Tchamitchian directs his own projects and plays with many people, Christophe Marguet also worked with Henri Texier and a good part of French jazz. As for Romano Pratesi, with his collaborations with David Liebman, Daniel Humair and Michael Moore, he manages to release a form of musical fantasy among all the musicians of Sextet, which gives this orchestra a peculiar sound paw.
