Cathexis came from around the New York/Vermont area and recorded two albums in the 80's, led by guitarist Chip Carter (who now lives somewhere in Boston) and keyboardist Jim Kuster.Their debut (with Rusty Anderson on bass and Roger Brown on drums) was a mix of Funk Rock and Jazz Fusion with its usual ups and downs, the moments of brilliance but also the moments of slickness. The long tracks happen to be the better ones with atmospheric interludes, jazzy piano paces, even some proggy exercises and also (mediocre) vocals. The shorter ones are more conservative -even if speaking for Jazz- with cliche rhythms and a very period sound.I haven't heard their second ''Tonal vision'', but I guess this will be even more 80's-drenched.A decent addition for Fusion fans.~apps79
