"Days of Pearly Spencer" (or in later releases "The Days of Pearly Spencer") is a 1967 song written and originally performed by the singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland David McWilliams, and included on his second album David McWilliams. Although it charted in several countries in continental Europe, the original version was not a chart success in either the United Kingdom or Ireland, as McWilliams' manager, Phil Solomon, was involved in the pirate radio industry. In 1992, a cover version by English pop singer Marc Almond became a major hit in the British Isles, reaching number 4 in the UK Singles Chart and number 8 in Ireland.
