Title means We Fight to Win. What few outside Denmark might be aware of is, that the series of Savage Rose albums from this period - all of which has danish titles and texts - are among the MOST POWERFUL PROTEST SONG ALBUMS EVER MADE BY ANYONE, both in content and execution. Dylan is rather whimpy compared to this totally direct and plain talk. U2 seems ridiculous - as music, that is - as no world leaders has ever listened to Savage Rose.
This might be the best of those albums, certainly the most harsh. The followup Ild og Frihed (i.e. Fire and Freedom), is grander in scope and instrumentation, and the predecessors, ex Vugge af Staal (Cradle of Steel) are of a more friendly mood.
What is heard on Fight To Win is the smallest ever, trio, version of Savage Rose, with only song and acoustic piano/harmonica, driven by a relentless big-drum-beat (no drumset as such). Their concerts in those days were like elven parties - supervised by leftwing-extremists from a small revolutionary party, that they had connected to. This connection made it possible for them to tour Albania several time, and the inspiration from the balcan music is evident on this one.
The Savage Rose albums of this period gets predictably lower rating than the rest of their output. This is strange, as the bands already powerful sound and skills is put to use in a context and format, that makes these records totally unique.
Some people fascinated by the bands initial, smooth and ultimate flower-power-image as the european-musical-academy answer to Jefferson Airplane might argue, but I think this album represents the Savage Rose at its absolute creative peak.
Dont avoid this record just because of politics.
