Original indie songwriter from Recife, Brazil, from all the places she had lived since an early age, and from Paris, France, her second nationality, TANIA CHRISTAL’s style is, by her own definition, POP SCULPTURAL. She loves to create music like a sculpture: adding textures to a basic form that can be Rock or Bossa Nova, Reggae or R&B, a Waltz or a Tango, to create a final personal composition.
“To compose songs has always been a vital part of myself. I love making music arrangements, sharing with musicians and modelling my songs step by step.”
For the album “INSANE” Tania Christal had the fundamental collaboration of producers Leo D and William P who added their expertise and creativity in electronic sounds and keyboards to mold the shape of the songs, and of original french bassist Claude Burg who provided an essential part of its aesthetics.
“In Paris (France) I met the french bass player Claude Burg, who used a pick to play his bass.
We've composed songs for this album like “Esquisito” which featured in a brazilian TV series, and “O Homem Lobisomem” (The Werewolf Man), the first song I distributed digitally . It is a 'spoken words' and the music is essentially Claude Burg’s bass line with arrangement modeled after it. It sounds like Claude is playing a guitar but it’s really his bass.”
This song “O Homem Lobisomem” inspired a video-clip realized by video director Mario Rios. It is a collage of classical cinema scenes, featuring the singer, and drawn by the artists Lin and Mascaro. Costume by Jackson Araújo.
This album benefited greatly from the contributions of:
Nilton Rangel: acoustic guitar. Zé Luiz: electric guitar. Gustavo Monteiro: drums. Hito: drums. Mauro Delé: percussion. Gilsinho: pandeiro.
All songs of INSANE are composed by Tania Christal, or in partnership.
“I would like my beloved friend and music partner Numa Ciro to be present in this album through our songs “Fleur de Rose” and “Vigésima Hora”. As well as my friend and partner Flaviola (Suspeita) and Nabuco dos Santos (Na Vida Sorrir).
Numa Ciro also sings in “Valsa da Metropole”. The only other voice participation.
The album “Insane” was recorded and mixed in Mr. Mouse Studio (Recife, Brasil) by Leo D & William P and was mastered by Carlos Freitas in Classic Master (São Paulo).
The cover-art of the album is a work in watercolor and pencil tinted by artist Yaky Bonacic-Doric, composition by designer Carlóis Amorim.
“My lyrics and music have always been inspired by streets, cities, urban and human. I am definitely an urban-human person”
WARNING: all 12 songs are guided by a boiling hormonal system (as said journalist Schneider Carpeggiani) . Two songs are “Parental advisory”: “Fleur de Rose” and “La Femme de L'Autobus”.
