"When the Birds Leave" Album Release Concert“Verheyen brings a fresh, ensemble-driven approach to contemporary jazz”JazzReview Robin Verheyen seems to have been around a long time, yet the young saxophonist is not yet 35. In recent years he has branched out internationally, as demonstrated by this quartet that is nothing less than a genuine all-star band. With pianist Marc Copland – who can accurately be described as a mentor for the saxophonist – the musical association is long standing. While bassist Drew Gress is one of the most sought-after session musicians on the New York scene, drummer Billy Hart needs no introduction in Belgium. He has played with nearly all the big names in the history of jazz (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz) but is also known in Belgium for the many workshops he has given here. Top international musicians with a Belgian flavour. Recently the quartet recorded a new album "When the Birds Leave". It'll be released by Universal Music on January 26th 2018.The last two concerts of Robin Verheyen at Bozar (“TaxiWars” (2016) and “Monk 100” (2017)) were both sold out. Don't say we didn't warn you.....
