With encouragement from his friend Dee Dee Ramone of The Ramones, lead singer Paul Collins began recording new material during the 1990s with a re-formed version of The Beat. This year, Paul Collins Beat have released the all-new studio album entitled “Ribbon Of Gold,” as a follow-up to the 2007 critically acclaimed album “Flying High.” In addition, Paul Collins Beat are offering the new album “Live In Europe” as an exclusive free full length CD and DVD video album audio download through their official website.
Rock icon and cult favorite Paul Collins founded legendary rock band The Nerves with Peter Case and Jack Lee in 1974. The Nerves funded their own recordings, toured with The Ramones and released a song called Hanging On The Telephone, a hit song which has been covered by Cat Power, Def Leppard and Blondie, on the Parallel Lines album. After The Nerves disbanded in 1977, Paul Collins formed The Beat, recruiting members of various rock bands. The Beat were music video pioneers, appearing on early MTV and touring the world, performing with major rock acts such as The Cure, The Police, The Jam, Devo and countless others. Today, Paul Collins’ Beat continues to play hundreds of concerts each year, touring USA, Japan, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Sweden, France, UK and throughout Europe.
