Recorded during a pivotal era for avant-garde jazz and free jazz, these tracks originated alongside the landmark recording sessions for The Magic City and The Heliocentric Worlds of Sun Ra.

Featuring pieces such as Heliocentric Worlds, Mythology Metamorphosis, The Nothing That Never Knew, and an alternate take of Journey Amongst the Stars, the material was previously scattered across various independent labels and limited bonus releases. Elliptical Orbits compiles these rare works into a single unified record with newly remastered audio, highlighting the radical harmonic experimentation, cosmic mythology, and polyrhythmic energy of Sun Ra & His Arkestra.
