Kevin Sun - Kevin Sun, II (2026) [Hi-Res]

American jazz saxophonist and composer Kevin Sun presented the album Kevin Sun, II, recorded in a single afternoon at Terrarium studio in Minneapolis. Recorded in spring 2025 immediately following an intense US tour with his quartet, the album's primary concept was capturing the authentic, live energy of the ensemble with zero edits or post-production overdubbing.

The album features a diverse range of original pieces and reimagined arrangements. Key tracks include an uptempo swing interpretation of Ryuichi Sakamoto's waltz Chanson featuring a piano solo by Walter Li, alongside Unformed, Shrouded by Fog, dedicated to late actress Pik-Sen Lim, which harmonizes her vocal introduction from the video game Dark Souls into a modern jazz quartet setting. The record also includes an arrangement of Angelo Badalamenti's Laura Palmer's Theme from David Lynch's TV series Twin Peaks, revived by Kevin Sun as a tribute to filmmaker David Lynch and his uncompromising devotion to artistic freedom.
