For more then three decades The Boppers have performed with their successful mix of authentic rock n´roll and close harmony doo-wop. Their music is popular with all generations, from youngsters who have just “discovered” rock n´roll to a more mature audience who were there when it all started.
With over two million records sold in Scandinavia alone, The Boppers are one of the most successful modern groups of their kind. Their breakthrough came in 1979 with their debut album, “Number One”, which sold 420 000 copies followed by a record breaking summer tour. More than 120 performances in three months, 4 000 Swedish miles on the road, screaming fans, police-escort and enormous amounts of hair-pomada.
The 50´s were in fashion again, with american cars, rock n´roll hairdoes and drainpipes.
The Boppers have always been serious about rock n´roll and doo-wop, with a great love for the originals and a feeling for authenticity. This has given them a great following with foreign fans. In Japan, The Boppers have had several successful tours, achieving a number one hit with their original song “Do That Bopping Jive”
During the heyday of electronic pop in the 80´s The Boppers continued to play their own style. With the beginning of the 90´s the band regained popularity with original hit singles such as “Jeannie´s Coming Back”, “Gonna Find My Angel” and the album ,”The Boppers”, which sold 250 000 copies.
Their career has certainly been eventful with, in recent years successful appearances in the musical “Jerka” seen by audiences of over 100 000, the jubilee-cd” 25 Years Still Boppin”, which sold gold, and the stage show “Happy Birthday, 50 Years of Rock n´Roll”, also released as an album, a tribute to rock n´roll in collaboration with artists such as Jerry Williams, Pugh Rogerfeldt and Mikael Rickfors.
Through the years The Boppers have worked with such famous artists as Chuck Berry, Suzi Quatro. Together with Markoolio the group made the hiphop-record “Rocka På”, which attracted a younger audience to their style of music.
The Boppers of today continue to cultivate their love of 50´s rock n´roll and doo-wop ,the Chuck Berry riffs and the close song harmonies. The group has now become synonymous with the authentic groove of 50:s popular music, prformed with joy and energy.
