Olle Vikström - Kranen (2020)

The album title ”Kranen” is the Swedish word for ”the tap”.
This Swedish jazz debut album was recorded spontaneously in one day at this old, beautiful vintage Tambourine Studio in the South of Sweden (Malmö).
Olle Vikström and his 4-piece band (drums, upright bass, clavinet/piano and horns) quickly learned the beautiful compositions and recorded it before they knew it too well as Olle wanted the beauty of the first take and the moments of songs just being created.
The result is touching. Both playful, unpredictable and also catchy.
There are moments when the music reminds you of Charlie Haden and Carla Bley, but most of all this is the sound of a new brilliant jazz composer/artist.
