Granting relevance to Pedro Cortejosa in everything that has happened in Andalusian jazz in recent years - and from before, when everything was more atomized - is to do justice. Above that presence focused on different projects, perhaps his creative, restless and insatiable personality, which makes him a fundamental figure and places him, despite his seniority, at the head of the most nutritious and advanced ideas. Even for those of us who think we know what it is capable of, the first measures of this disc are enough to dismantle any preconceived claim. "Eight" is an exquisite job. And when this adjective is used it is done with all the consequences. It is jazz and it is not jazz. It is refining, I would say that above all it is distillation of his previous works and at the same time he takes a step further. The care for detail, the instrumental color it has achieved and those enveloping and suggestive cadences.
