The long and fruitful artistic life of Jorge López Ruiz, much more than a double bass player, is evident in this production that honors his memory and in which his sons Cecilia and Pablo, but also friends of many years, participated in different ways. like Jorge Cutello and the other members of his latest quartet.
The concept of the album is simple: playing the arrangements and also original music (there are two songs by him) by the honored musician, summoning notable double bassists for this: Juan Bayón, Juan Pablo Navarro, Jerónimo Carmona, Ezequiel Dutil, Pablo Motta, el Mono Hurtado, Andrés Pellican and Nicanor Suárez.
There is a lot to listen to on this exquisite album. On the one hand, it is undeniable the attraction generated by listening to the different instrumentalists, all doing their thing with mastery. On the other, check the strength of the group that the teacher built, which continues to function as a perfect and sensitive machinery at the same time. It is a pleasure at all times of the recording what Tomás Fraga does with his guitar, the wisdom and location of Cutello, playing and singing, and the presence of Germán Boco on drums. Cecilia López Ruiz contributes her swing to sing on some tracks.
As it could not be otherwise, the recording, mixing and mastering were in charge of Pablo López Ruiz; maker of so many records, he could not be alien to this production. As a bonus track, a gem: Blue Monk in a 2011 recording with Jorge López Ruiz and the guests playing with him.
