Wenso Ashby is a jazz pianist that showcases musical craftsmanship with its own set of charms. He will take you on an instrumental cruise or a vocal flight and can travel in any direction the mood takes him. His latest release “The Rebirth: Mind, Body & Soul” is his first recording in two years since his last all instrumental hit “Signature.” “The Rebirth” takes you on a journey in search of new beginnings and purity. Lush, heartfelt, and elegant, “The Rebirth” is threaded with the soul of improvisational piano, slick guitar, and simmering percussions. Complimenting Wenso’ s keyboard stylings are the vocals of Zsamé Morgan. Her voice blurs the lines that separate contemporary jazz from neosoul, while extending the boundaries of both.

The opener “Joie” is a thoroughly inventive instrumental that truly brings joy. The voice of Morgan gracefully and elegantly complements The next song “Can’t Turn Away” which is inspired by a chance meeting generating instant attraction. “Come Take Me” is a nice R&B groove that takes the vibe in an upbeat direction. “Echoes” features a haunting vocal by Morgan reminiscing on why past relationships ended. A standout track “Give Me You” strips away the curtain and gives us a refreshing side of Wenso with spoken word and his piano in the forefront. The title track “Mind, Body & Soul” seamlessly combines soul and jazz while on a journey for honesty and purity. The positive energy and rhythmic track “Let It Go” works toward ridding the world of negative energy. A “Good Thang” keeps the energy up with a mellow groove. Wenso concludes this release with a beautiful melody “How Can I”, in which Morgan gives you unbridled passion in her vocals on losing love. In conclusion, The Rebirth, results in glorious music that is as sophisticated as it is emotionally honest.
