Ian Anderson - Homo Erraticus (2014) [Hi-Res]

Ian Anderson, The mastermind flautist and front man behind the classic British prog rock band, Jethro Tull returns with his brand new album 'Homo Erraticus“. The album, 'Homo Erraticus“ is the written translation from the Latin which means „The Wandering Man“. It's the story of all of us looking for a better life,' explains Ian in a telephone interview. He continues, 'It is definitely the story of migration (or immigration) is a hot topic particularly in most of the countries of the Western world. The album has some continuity but it's not part three of a trilogy, but it does have a little continuity of the back story; it's supposedly is written by the retired left-wing politician Gerald Bostock (Anderson's alter-ego) who wrote the lyrics based on the meandering mind of a malarious-stricken English colonel in 1928 perhaps he had previous lives and will see lives in the future in his delirium; he wrote a book before he died which Gerald Bostock discovers uses the essence of that to write the lyrics for a rock album which he gives to me and I write the music and record it. As Gerald is my alter-ego he can say things that I'm not allowed to say!'

Ian has been playing with the same band for the last 12 years. The current line-up features David Goodier, (bass guitar, double bass), John O'Hara (orchestral conductor, keyboards,piano, accordion), Florian Opahle, (guitar), Scott Hammond, (drums, percussion) and Ryan O'Donnell (vocals, stage antics).

'I don't think of it as a 'solo' album, it's another album but it's not in the generic 'Jethro Tull' category because for me after all these years, Jethro Tull is the long history of repertoire of catalog music that I've written and recorded over the years; it's just me doing the same thing that I always do, it's just that I prefer to use my own name these days for projects that are a little bit more demanding and up to date. So after 45 years of regretfully having purloin the identity of the 'real' Jethro Tull as an 18th century agriculturalist, I've felt very guilty about that as I have for many years so perhaps it's time to remember Jethro Tull the historical character and when it comes to Jethro Tull the rock music repertoire I'm happy to be associated with it.'
