Me & my friend made this album. It took us a year to finish all the music... having no record label we had to set up our own website to sell it from (doing all the programming ourselves), made the sleeve artwork ourselves, wrote all the press releases, learnt how to write music contracts & worked out all the splits etc, got a distribution deal and tried to publicise the album as much as possible, trying to get some interest and momentum from facebook twitter etc... so much work!.... so much time and effort and energy...
yesterday we launched our label and website, and released the album finally, such a great feeling to finally get there and be able to start selling the LP....
and now a day later you've uploaded the album so anyone can have it, and we don't get a penny....
I just want to let you know that there are real human beings behind this record trying desperately to make something work, trying desperately to build something from scratch off our own backs, with NO money, no budget... it was never going to make huge amounts of money but we thought it was worth it. Everyone involved in making this album is struggling hard just to pay rent every week.
I've no idea how you'll feel reading this - quite possibly absolutely nothing.. but I just thought I'd say how wrong it is that you've uploaded the LP. And how directly you've hurt other people. I can understand posting stuff up when its huge major record label releases, or old obscure music that you can't find anywhere, but this is a labour of love by a few people, trying their hardest to make something work. It would be so great if you'd delete the links, I don't know if you'll do that, but I have to ask. Seeing this here has turned one of the happiest days into a really sad one - there feels like no point in doing it now.. Please could you delete the links?
