If the stylistic range in the first GENUIN CD of the Ensemble Mixtura was wide, the two musicians Katharina Bäuml (shawn) and Margit Kern (accordion) are now sending us music bridging a still wider canyon in their new GENUIN release. In a breathtaking compilation, they connect the music of the forefather of Western music, Guillaume de Machaut, with compositions of our time. Just as old churches are reflected in the glass facades of modern buildings, we discover here, anew, the artistically skilful polyphony of the Middle Ages in the works of Sidney Corbett, Sarah Nemtsov and Samir Odeh-Tamimi. Time becomes sound - the two instruments, so different from each other, melt into exciting new colour combinations. Well worth listening to!
