A large production of small masterpieces The cellist Nicolas Altstaedt was awarded the Young Artist Prize in Switzerland in 2010 and has come up with an outstanding CD. Together with the pianist José Gallardo, he spans the range from Robert Schumann's late works to the intimate pearls of chamber music by Wilhelm Killmayer. Occasionally heard in concerts, the 8 Bagatelles are now available in a world premiere recording. This is not the only way for the young musicians to win the hearts of their listeners. Nicolas Altstaedt releases his (meanwhile!) Fourth album on GENUIN! This time with wonderful chamber music by two masters of their time: never before recorded repertoire for cello and piano by the Munich composer Wilhelm Killmayer and works by Robert Schumann, suitable for the end of the 200th anniversary. The 27-year-old Berlin cellist was honored with the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award 2010 for his life's work. Associated with it was u. a. a concert with the Vienna Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel at the Lucerne Festival on September 17, 2010. At the award ceremony, he said that he was planning the world premiere of works for cello and piano by the Munich composer Wilhelm Killmayer. With Killmayer's music, Nicolas Altstaedt connects incredibly present moments that are free from constraints, prescribed, constructed and predictable.
