Val Bonetti - Hidden Star (2020)

It is called "Hidden Star" and the new album by Val Bonetti is released today by Dodicilune. The disc sees the guitarist playing two songs solo (Tram 5 Rag and Little Dancer), four in duo with Marco Ricci on double bass (Igor, A Few Steps, Duck is Duck is Duck is and Sunday Noon), two with the Senegalese percussionist Cheikh Fall alla kora (Hidden Star and in The Star is Calling) and one with harmonica player Giulio Brouzet (To Caress a Snake).

So Bonetti himself tells of the album: "The music on this record was composed with the guitar; the instrument on which I develop all my ideas by exploring their polyphonic and polyrhythmic possibilities. The six strings can look like six different instruments that can be stroked, tickled or plucked in an infinite variety of ways. This is what fascinates me and brings me back to sitting with the guitar every day, my door to the infinite possibilities that music can offer. It was a privilege to work with three very special guests for this project, involving them in meetings that were not just duets but real dialogues. As a composer I provided the track, but the magic happened during the recordings ».
