Sandra Nkake - Mansaadi (2008)

Following on the success of Sandra Nkake's Jazz Village debut recording Nothing For Granted, (which won her the ''Best Newcomer'' award from Victoires du Jazz) the label is proud to offer a reissue of her 2008 album Mansaadi (Little Mother), the disc that first introduced the public to her unique voice. With inflections of rock, soul, folk and blues, the tracks on Mansaadi are elegantly soulful and playfully eclectic, with unexpected touches like the accordion on ''Happy,'' and an explosive reinterpretation of ''La Mauvaise Reputation'' by Georges Brassens. After hearing it, there is no doubt that this album marked the birth of a major new jazz talent.
