Casey James - If You Don't Know By Now (2020)

This project has been an interesting ride for me. And only through Faith has it come to fruition. I really hear myself in this music more than anything I’ve released up to this point, and I know without a doubt that a younger version of myself could never have made this record. Seems like an obvious thing to say, but it really isn’t. I used to think that music was something to be perfected. But now I realize that the imperfections are the most captivating and unique parts to me. My major label record making experiences were wonderful but also reinforced my want/need to be perfect. BUT I am obviously nowhere close to perfect, and that means that if I’m being honest, that my records shouldn’t be perfect either. So a lot of this record is just the very first moment that the music was played. Could I re-record each solo and all the vocals and make every note land perfectly on the beat, or sing each song until I hit each note perfectly? Of course. Pretty much anyone can (I REALLY mean that). But would it be the REAL me? NO it wouldn’t. Because that isn’t how I play or sing. It’s about passion, not precision for me. It always has been. I will keep growing and learning as I make music, and anyone listening to my music will be a part of that process with me. But each record I make from now on will reflect the true me at that time.

I’m glad to say that this is the strongest most honest record I’ve made so far in my life on every level, and I’m so proud to know that it’s made its way from my heart to your ears.
