Following up on their successful debut album “Knob” (2019), the danish New Nordic Jazz duo Svaneborg Kardyb are now ready to announce their new album “Haven”.
The album is a tribute to nature and simplicity and takes you in through cracks of light with playful intuition and the sound of coming home.
With the words “the delicacy of the playing, the natural affinity to melody and the exquisite interaction between them” Nikolaj Svaneborg & Jonas Kardyb received praise for their debut album at the Danish Jazz Music Awards 2019 by receiving two awards.
Words from Svaneborg Kardyb
As opposed to “Knob” which was written in the morning hours of spring in a rehearsal studio, the process around “Haven” has taken place in various locations, forms and hours of the day. The music has evolved both in Nikolaj’s flat in Århus playing only on a suitcase and midi keys, in “Djursland” with a view where Jonas now lives and during the many soundchecks we’ve had while touring. Although we’ve been busy, our approach to the new album has been the same as with “Knob”. We’re composing from instinct, grasping on to one single idea and then letting it develop.”
The album “Haven” offers 10 new tracks, each being their own tribute to nature. The sound is still warm, dreamy, spacious and airy with captivating melodies and a dynamic groovy meditation where acoustic unites with the electronic.
To express the right atmospheric vibe Svaneborg Kardyb have on the record incorporated the voices of their rural origins and dreamy wind chimes from an allotment hut.
Furthermore, they have been joined by the award-winning trumpeter Jakob Sørensen (Bagland, AJO and others).
