Emil Friis - Partiernes Skjulte Overgreb (Music from the Original Series) (2020)

Copenhagen based composer, producer and artist Emil Friis has spent much of his career in the shadows of the music industry. Originally a singer/songwriter, Friis has evolved into one of Denmark's most sought after composers of original scores and title themes, though remained relatively unknown outside the professional world of ‘music for pictures’. A largely self taught musician, through his lack of formal training Friis has created a musical language filled with sensibility, tension, brightness and somber beauty, resulting in a mixture of genre bending sounds. On October 2nd he released ‘Songs from the Deep’, an experimental, cinematic, ambient album, featuring a mixture of yearning sounds, dramatic synthesizers, field recordings and processed acoustic instruments, as well as two piano tracks. To a backdrop of rave reviews, he released the soundtrack to 'Partiernes Skjulte Overgreb', danish network TV2's highly influential mini series. The score features a string quartet along with more synth based, ambient and experimental elements. Out October 23rd.
