This is the sort of release that would usually slip under the radar, but most certainly deserves wider acclaim. It comes from a new name to the re-edit scene, Arsivplak, a producer who delights in fashioning dancefloor gold out of obscure Turkish disco, folk, psychedelia, soul, funk and pop records. The 11 assembled edits have the feel of traditional scalpel reworks - think on-point rearrangements, rather than filter-happy Ableton house tool-ups - and are rarely less than exotic, inspired and dancefloor-ready. Given the high quality threshold throughout, it's darn tough to pick highlights, though at present we're particularly fond of the bubbly cosmic disco of "Ayva Cicek Asmis", synth-laden Middle Eastern disco anthem "Oooh Edit" and the quirky, Moog-heavy Library music number "The Postman".
